One of the most harmful attitudes a person can take towards others is that of contempt - the feeling that another person is beneath consideration or even deserving scorn. It devalues them and their opinions. It divides groups and makes it impossible to bridge the gap. A personal attitude of contempt must be rooted out and replaced with love and outgoing concern.
